Description & history of the MILKY OOLONG
Description & history of the MILKY OOLONG
Oolong tea, or “blue-green tea”, is a type of tea with intermediate oxidation, between green tea, which is not oxidized, and black tea, which is completely oxidized. Legend has it that a tea producer, returning from his harvest, saw a deer and chased it. He forgot to roast his tea leaves, which began to change color… The result was delicious! The Hakkas certainly played a role in the spread of this discovery. The proverb says: “Where there are mountains, there are Hakkas; where there are Hakkas, there is tea”. In China, Milky Oolong is a variant of Oolong with low oxidation, which was originally steamed with milk. Today, simply flavored, Milky Oolong delivers delicious notes of milk and vanilla. Rich in polyphenols, it also contains many minerals.
