Selma Amira is a Tunisian-born ceramist who works in the Village Saint-Paul (Le Marais, Paris IVème). She decided to create exceptional mugs and cups especially for TEA TRIBES, made here and inspired elsewhere.
The fruit of various conversations and tastings with Jean-Luc, our founder, Selma came up with this mug. Or rather, these mugs, as each piece is unique, made entirely by hand.
To find out more about Selma's work, her background and, no doubt, her talent, visit her blog post.
As for these mugs, so pleasing to the eye and to the touch, they are made of chamotte stoneware from Noirmoutier, turned and fired at the AMIRA-Céramiques workshop in Village Saint-Paul, and the glaze is food-grade Céradel, fired at 1230 degrees.
Their creation stems from what TEA TRIBES told Selma and inspired her to do: stories of peoples who, like her own, share ancestral practices of sharing delicious and beneficial beverages.
